New Start Students’ Helping Hands
On a cold Wednesday night in November, nine New Start students joined forces with a few Evergreen students to serve food at the White Center Food Bank. Some New Start students helped distribute food inside the warehouse and stocked bare shelves. Others worked outside in the chilly air handing out fresh produce and baked goods. They also carried food-filled boxes to customer’s cars. As active members of the New Start Key Club, these New Start students and their classmates plan to help at the food bank every second Wednesday of each month. New Start student Isaiah said, “We should do this more than once a month.” All nine students said they plan to return in after the holidays to help out again.
