• Welcome to Parkside

One of our Four Essentials for Success at Highline Public Schools is families and community partners with strong connections to our schools. We value good communication and collaboration. Families and community members are encouraged to participate in school activities and in educating students in school, at home, and in the community.

Parkside's COOL, Panthers RULE!

Cindy Black Dear Parkside Families, (En Espanol)

I am so excited to be joining the Parkside team! I am already so impressed by the things I am learning about this amazing school community.

Let me introduce myself to you…Professionally, I have a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Washington and have had the best career! I spent twelve years teaching, twelve years as an elementary school principal and six years in the district office supporting principals. (I'll let you do the math!) Returning to the school building fills me with joy and I am sincerely honored to be the Parkside Principal. I truly consider myself a life-long learner and enjoy working with students, staff and parents.

Personally, I was born and raised in the Seattle area and attended Highline schools, graduating from Mt. Rainier.  I am married to a wonderful man, Don, and we have two grown children. Our daughter, Becky, just had a baby, our first grandchild, and you can imagine we are totally in love with little Henry! Our son, Jeremy is getting married in October to a wonderful young woman. 2016 is quite the year for our family. We also have two kitties, Tucker and Scout who provide tons of entertainment! We enjoy camping (in a trailer!) especially at the ocean or over Chinook Pass. I love to read, scrapbook, and sew in my spare time!

So far this summer, I have spent time getting settled in to my office, getting familiar with the school, and interviewing for a couple of open teaching positions. There will be more to come on that as we get closer to the beginning of the school year.

I really look forward to meeting our students and families by inviting you to attend our Popsicles and Popcorn at Parkside. This meet and greet is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30th from 3:00-5:00. This will be an informal gathering on the playground where staff and PTA will be on hand to serve treats and visit with you! If you are able to stop by please make sure to come up and introduce yourself to me. I promise it won't take me too long to learn names and faces! Please know I have an open door policy and very much believe that parents are partners in the education of their children.

Warm Regards,

Cindy Black, Parkside Principal
